Two Palmetto Children Hospitalized After Backyard Dog Attack Prompting Family to File Lawsuit

PALMETTO, Ga.— After two children suffered an unprovoked attack by two rabid German shepherds in their own backyard, attorney David Zagoria filed a lawsuit against their owners in the State Court of Fulton County.

Sadi Asmundson and her brother Zeke, both children, were playing in their backyard when two loose German shepherds ran onto their property, brutally attacking the children. Both required hospitalization.

“Both Sadi and her brother suffered agonizing injuries,” Zagoria said. “Sadi had to be airlifted off her own property because she was in such critical condition.”

The lawsuit alleges the attack could have been prevented if the owners had properly restrained their vicious dogs. The owners’ alleged negligence led to the attack and resulting injuries.

Jessi and Sean Asmundson, the children’s parents, incurred more than $125,000 in medical expenses related to hospitalization, medication, nursing care, and other treatment.. According to the lawsuit, Sadi and Zeke continue to suffer severe physical injuries, mental anguish and emotional distress. The family is expected to incur additional expenses as the children continue to receive treatment over the course of their lives.

The complaint alleges both German shepherds previously bit and injured others, and that their owners were aware of the dogs’ violent inclinations.

Both children were healthy before the attack, but their injuries now prevent them from participating in activities typically enjoyed by other children.
